$1,190 Climate Action Incentive Payment 2025: What CRA Benefits Are Still Coming

$1,190 Climate Action Incentive Payment 2025 What CRA Benefits Are Still Coming

Many Canadians have been searching for their expected Canada Carbon Rebate (formerly Climate Action Incentive Payment, or CAIP) this July 2025, especially those who believed they would receive up to $1,190 in total payments this year. But there will be no carbon rebate issued in July 2025, and the program has officially ended after the final payment in April 2025, as confirmed by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Here’s what happened, what to expect going forward, and what other CRA benefits are still being paid this summer and fall.

What Happened to the CAIP / Canada Carbon Rebate?

The Canada Carbon Rebate was a quarterly, tax-free payment issued to residents of provinces where the federal fuel charge applied: Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

For the 2024–25 fiscal year, eligible Canadians received four quarterly payments in:

  • July 2024
  • October 2024
  • January 2025
  • April 2025 (final payment)

According to Canada.ca, the last scheduled payment for this benefit was in April 2025. There are no new carbon rebate payments scheduled for July 2025 or beyond.

What Was the $1,190 Canada Carbon Rebate?

The $1,190 amount being shared online is not a single payment. Instead, it refers to the estimated total of four quarterly Canada Carbon Rebate payments for a family of four in a province like Alberta.

For example, in Alberta, the quarterly amounts for a family of four in 2024–25 were:

  • $386 per quarter
  • Total for the year: $1,544

But in provinces like Ontario or Manitoba, the full annual rebate was closer to $1,000–$1,190. Again, this was split across four payments, the last of which was delivered in April 2025.

Why Did the Canada Carbon Rebate Stop?

The CRA confirmed that the April 2025 payment was the final one for the 2024–25 benefit year. The federal government did not extend the program into the next fiscal year, and no new rates or dates have been published for future Canada Carbon Rebate payments.

Unless new legislation or climate pricing changes are introduced, no further payments will be issued in July, October, or beyond.

What to Do if You Didn’t Receive Your April Rebate

If you didn’t receive the final April 2025 carbon rebate, it may be because:

  • You filed your taxes late
  • You moved provinces and need to update your address
  • You were not eligible, or your marital status or family size changed

You can check your My CRA Account or contact the CRA for more details.

Final Thoughts

There is no $1,190 carbon rebate payment coming in July 2025. The Canada Carbon Rebate program ended with the April 2025 payment, and there is no scheduled continuation as of now.

However, many other CRA benefits are still active and indexed for inflation. Canadians should ensure their tax filings and direct deposit information are up to date to continue receiving support throughout the year.
