COVID-19 Funding

Small and Medium Enterprise Relaunch Grant

Businesses that were ordered to close or curtail operations due to COVID-19 may be eligible. Applicants can apply for 15% of their pre-COVID-19 revenue, up to a maximum of $5,000 in funding and will be required to demonstrate a revenue reduction of at least 50% in April and/or May 2020

Applications open until Aug 31 or four weeks following the start of Phase 3 of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy, whichever is later.

CanExport for Businesses (SMEs)

Apply online for up to $75,000 in CanExport SMEs funding to cover up to 75% of your international market development activities. Canadian SMEs may choose up to 5 export markets to target, where your company has no or minimal business. decision within 60 business days.

Increased Intern Funding

Hire an intern for up to 8 months in a green job within a natural resources sector, and CICan will contribute up to 75% of the intern’s salary and funding for training expenses, to a maximum of $22,500.  Internships cannot exceed 8 months and must end by March 1, 2021.  For certain interns, the amount increases to  $30,000 and up to 80%.

WEDC – Regional Relief and Recovery Fund

  • Fund aims to help western Canadian businesses cope with the financial hardship resulting from COVID-19.
